The latest generation of the automaker’s workhorse offers the classic beefy exterior design with modern features in every category. The 2019 Sierra HD is engineered to impress.

The Perfect Ride for…

When you want even more of the more you already got, the HD has it ready for you. It’s the answer to all of life’s problems. Whether you need it for business or for pleasure, this is the truck that can do it all. Not only does it offer plenty of thoughtful features to meet the dynamic needs of the modern workday; it also includes tons of comfort features to ensure you’re able to ride easy until the job is done. Plus, GMC offers the 2019 Sierra HD with so many options, that you’re sure to get your workhorse customized just right to fit your unique needs.

Power & Handling

Among the many options you’ll have with the 2019 GMC Sierra HD, one of the most important will be the powertrain. You can choose between two intimidating engines: the Vortec® 6.0-liter Gaseous V8 or the Duramax® 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8.

The Vortec V8 engine pumps out an impressive 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, and it’s capable of operating on both gasoline and CNG/LPG, as well as E85 flex fuel with a conversion. It’s also built with the innovative Variable Valve Timing technology, which uses sensors and computer algorithm operating at factions of a second continuously throughout the drive to monitor and control high-end power and low-end torque.

The Duramax Turbo-Diesel is always ready to clock-in. In addition to the turbocharger, GMC engineers added a large radiator capacity and hood scoop induction system, both working to enhance cooling and optimize power output. Along with the capable Allison® 1000 6-Speed Automatic Transmission, these features help the Duramax Turbo-Diesel put out an impressive 445 horsepower and an astonishing 910 lb-ft of torque.

The next major decision point comes in the drivetrain. The Sierra HD comes available with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Both of these drivetrain options have been updated with modern technology to inspire endless confidence in all driving conditions. Both come standard with an automatic Eaton® Locker on the rear differential. When it senses a significant difference in wheel speed, it locks so both wheels get power for added traction. Also standard are the 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with DuraLife™ rotors, a GM-exclusive patented process that hardens and strengthens rotors, protecting against corrosion and doubling their service life.

There several more computer-powered performance features in this latest-generation Sierra HD, all aimed at improving handling and power to ensure stability and efficiency, as well as an enjoyable ride. Drivers will feel comfortable handling the massive capability of the HD, thanks to features like electronic power steering and electronically-powered transmission, both of which can autonomously adjust parameters to provide the optimal power in every situation. Similarly, GMC’s well-known StabiliTrak® electronic stability control system has gained a trusted reputation of enhancing control by automatically adjusting brake power and engine torque, particularly during emergency maneuvers, all to keep you on your intended path. This system also provides additional benefits, like Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, and Proactive Roll Avoidance.
